Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas

I mean, it’s in the title so? But also, this entire series is just an amazing one to marathon read. Break out those cosy blankets, make yourself some tea and hunker down to read about these brilliant, badass women and the men who love them.

Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend

There is nothing more perfect for Winter than Nevermoor. In fact, there is nothing more perfect for every season or event than Nevermoor. I’m sure you’ve heard me talk about how Nevermooor is one of my favourite series, and how I want everyone to read it and so on. If you want me to stop, then you’ll just have to read it.

City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab

While I have to admit that this isn’t my favourite Schwab book, I think it’d be the perfect read for a dark Winter’s night. It’s the kind of book that makes you want to huddle up with a blanket, maybe a candle and just devour it in the one sitting.

Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare

I also think The Infernal Devices would make for a good Winter read, but anyway. This is historical and fantasy, with a little bit of romance thrown in too—hello, perfect Winter night? Truly, I think this is the perfect book to spend a cold, rainy day with. You don’t want to go outside? Perfect, because you won’t want to put this down.

Dreamer’s Pool by Juliet Marillier

Again, this is another series that is just perfect to marathon. I don’t know what it is about the Blackthorn & Grim trilogy but it just feels like such a cosy fantasy series to read. Honestly, you could find elements of all the seasons throughout the books, but if you’re looking for something to occupy your time for a few miserable days…

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

Maybe this is a cliched answer, but whenever I think of this book, I think of the opening scenes of the movie when there’s snow covering the fields. The book doesn’t solely take place in Winter, but there’s something about it that makes me feel like it’s the perfect book to read.

A Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie

There’s something about murder mysteries that just screams Winter to me. This one is basically that—a group of people confined to a train that’s stuck in the snow? How else would you spend your Winter, you know?

The Highlander Who Loved Me by Adrienne Basso

I realise Scotland isn’t in a perpetual Winter state à la Narnia, but there’s just something kind of cosy about the setting. This is a 14th century Highlander romance, and honestly, it’s just such a fun read. If you need something a little light, I highly recommend this series.

Pages & Co by Anna James

There are only two books out in this series at the moment, but they’re both just so beautiful. This is a fun middle-grade series about people who can wander into books. If you’ve been a booklover since childhood, then this is just filled with lovely, nostalgic things.

Lanny by Max Porter

This is hands down one of the strangest books I’ve ever read, but it was also incredibly breath-taking. I think Max Porter is some kind of magician of words or something because I don’t know anyone who can write like he can. I highly, highly, highly recommend this one!
