The Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus Character Book Tag

I’m here today with the Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus Character Book Tag. This was originally created by May @ Forever and Everly, and she also created all of the graphics you see in this post. I was tagged by the lovely Annemieke @ A Dance With Books. Let’s get into it.

I don’t know that I have a top favourite this year yet. I’ve read quite a few books that I’ve loved, so I think for this one I’m going to mention The Last True Poets of the Sea by Julia Drake. It doesn’t get anywhere near the love it deserves!

I have to go with And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie for this one because I will never get over how well Christie pulls off that twist. This was the first book of hers I read, and you should all know how obsessed I’ve been ever since.

Ottilie Colter and the Narroway Hunt by Rhiannon Williams has to be my answer for this one. This is one of my all-time favourite series, and the first book doesn’t even have 150 ratings on Goodreads yet. This is a magical adventure story perfect for people who like Percy Jackson, or Nevermoor!

The Ruin by Dervla McTiernan—I very, very rarely like crime books, so I was fully expecting to DNF this one. Instead, this completely blew me away and it’s quite possibly my favourite non-Christie crime/mystery novel.

Is it really me if I don’t mention A Series of Unfortunate Events at some point? This was the first series I ever fell in love with so it will always have an incredibly special place in my heart.

Maybe a bit of a cop-out answer here, but the relationship between Will and Jem in the Infernal Devices will always be one of my favourites. I know they aren’t blood family, but found families are just as important.

I’m just going to go with all of Shaun Tan’s books for this one. They’re usually pretty short, but I get completely sucked into the creatures he creates and the worlds they inhabit and suddenly the book is over.

Ha, okay. This is a hard one because I feel like I don’t read a lot of super hyped books, but let’s go with the safe old Lord of the Rings. I feel like most people at least enjoy this, and I really, really did too.

If I ever get marooned on an island, I feel like I’d be way too anxious about you know, food and insulin, to read, but…I feel like the Percy Jackson series would be a great one to have. I know it says ‘book’, but I’m counting the entire series.

Okay these last three have been hard! I also don’t give out 5 stars out a lot—what can I say? I’m a tough nut to crack. I do have Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo to read and I did LOVE The Poet X so it’s got a chance.

I would do many things to get my hands on a copy of The Camelot Betrayal by Kiersten White, which isn’t out until November. I loved book one so much, so I am beyond excited for this one.

Everything that Angel has ever made me read? Okay, but seriously, The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros, which Angel actually picked out for me earlier this year. This book completely tore me apart. I’m still not recovered. Thanks, Angel.

Ugh, I always hate this question in tags. I’m sorry—I just don’t really like funny books! I really don’t have an answer. I like to read books that make me sob like a baby.

One of my favourite books as a kid was Five Children and It by E. Nesbit. It’s been maybe like 16 years, but it still holds a special place in my heart and I think it always will.

I think I’m going to go with The Great Believers by Rebecca Makkai for this one. This was my favourite book of 2019 and I still get emotional about it now. I would’ve quite happily kept reading it forever.

Apparently a lot of people didn’t like This Island Will Sink by Briohny Doyle. It has an average rating of 3.31 on Goodreads, and I gave it five stars back in 2016. I don’t remember a lot about it now, but I do consider it to be one of the best and most intriguing books I’ve ever read.

I’m sorry, but I will continue to be disappointed by City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare until the end of time. In fact, that whole series can just go for me. I’d be happy just to read The Infernal Devices, The Dark Artifices and The Last Hours.

Oh boy. This is a hard one too. I’m going to kind of twist this and say just ‘the best romance book’, which is just anything written by Sabrina Jeffries. I love her.
