At the start of August I put myself on a book buying ban and I’ve stuck to it ever since. Part of the reason I’ve been doing so well at it is because my birthday is coming up in the second week of October and that means, I’m allowed to buy some books.
To make sure I don’t go too out of control, I’ve been putting together this little wishlist of the ones I want to get. So here they are!
Past the Shallows by Favel Parrett
I read Favel Parrett’s There Was Still Love earlier this year from the Stella Prize as my first book from her. I absolutely loved it. I read When the Night Comes last month, again, absolutely loved it. When I was thinking about what books I might want to get for myself, this was the first one that came to mind.
Blood and Honey by Shelby Mahurin
I was such a huge fan of Serpent & Dove last year that I have been eagerly awaiting this one ever since. I know it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it just worked for me. It’s been very hard to hold off ordering this one, but I do think I need to reread the first ones hopefully I can do that before October.
None Shall Sleep // White Night // No Limits all by Ellie Marney
You can probably guess that Ellie Marney is one of my favourite authors, but I kind of fell behind on her books for a little bit. I always meant to buy them (apart from None Shall Sleep which is a new release), but just didn’t. I haven’t decided whether I’ll buy these all at once or get one now and save the others for Christmas. We’ll see.
Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson
This is another definite one. It came out in September so I’ve been patiently waiting for it. Earlier in the year I got the only one of Jackson’s books that I was missing, so I feel like I could just spend a week reading her four books and ruining my life.
The Art of Saving the World by Corinne Duyvis
I’ve mentioned this more than a few times as one of my most anticipated books of the year. Again, it came out in September so I’ve been waiting all this time. I’ve read both of Duyvis’ previous books so I am beyond ready to have something new and wonderful from her.
Mansfield Park & Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen
I’ve been very slowly collecting the Vintage Austen editions, and these are the final two I’ve got left. I’ve read Northanger Abbey multiple times, but I’ve never read Mansfield Park. I’ve actually still got Sense & Sensibility and Emma to read as well, but I’m excited to have these all match.
Has your birthday already passed or is it still to come? What books did you get/what did you ask for?
