Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is a love freebie. I was going back at forth on what to do for this and finally settled on sharing ten books I think I’ll end up loving.

The Harp of Kings by Juliet Marillier

I have a pretty good track record with Juliet Marillier so far. Out of the four of hers I’ve read, I loved three of them. This one just sounds right up my alley— the protagonist is a female bard and warrior which just sounds incredible. I’m actually hoping to pick this one up this month, so in any hope I’m right and this ends up being a great read.

None Shall Sleep by Ellie Marney

I don’t really do the whole serial killer, thriller thing but if there’s anyone I’ll make an excuse for, it’s Ellie Marney. She’s the author of one of my all-time favourite series, the Every trilogy. My best friend very kindly gave me this for my birthday in October and I’ve been putting it off until I was mentally prepared to not sleep for a week.

My Darling Duke by Stacey Reid

This one has been on my Kindle for ages now and I’m just really bad at reading eBooks. Angel read this one last month and instantly told me I’d love it and that I needed to read it ASAP. Not only is this historical romance, which let’s be honest is my favourite genre these days, it also features disability rep.

Hunger by Roxane Gay

I’m a big fan of Roxane Gay and I have been for quite a few years now ever since I read Bad Feminist. I bought this one in 2019 and still haven’t gotten to it yet, but I do think it has the chance of becoming a favourite of mine when I do eventually pick it up.

The Stars and the Blackness Between Them by Junauda Petrus

I’ve seen nothing but good things about this one, so I think I’m going to end up loving it. Plus it just sounds like the kind of think that’s going to make me really emotional, and those are my absolute favourite types of books.

Let Me Hear A Rhyme by Tiffany D. Jackson

I’ve read two of Jackson’s books now, both of which were five stars reads and both happened to absolutely rip my heart out. So there’s no pressure on this one or anything. I’m hoping to get to it this year, but I said that in 2020 too.

Never Seduce A Scoundrel by Sabrina Jeffries

I loved Sabrina Jeffries’ Royal Brotherhood series to the point that I consider her probably my favourite historical romance author. Angel and I will be buddy reading this as part of our discussion series, and I just get the feeling we’re both going to love this one.

Wormwood Mire by Judith Rossell

I absolutely adored book one in this series, Withering-by-Sea but I just didn’t get around to this one or the third book in 2020. This is a gorgeous middle-grade series with a little bit of mystery and some magical elements too. The first one took place in a hotel by the seaside and this one seems very Secret Garden-y with a manor house and overgrown grounds. It sounds very exciting.

The Chosen and the Beautiful by Nghi Vo

I’ve been talking about this one and Nghi Vo in general a lot lately, so apologies if you’re sick of hearing about it but I’m just so excited. This is a Great Gatsby retelling following Jordan Baker, with queer and Asian representation and a fantasy twist. It’s not out until later this year, but that sounds like basically everything I want in a book.

Always Only You by Chloe Liese

Yet another one I meant to get to in 2020 and just didn’t. I loved book one in this series when I read it as part of Angel and I’s recommendation swap of romance books. My only excuse with this one is that I have it on my Kindle, and I’m seriously bad at reading those.
