Earl Grey Books

February was very much a reading month—I read 23 books in total which, of course, means I didn’t have a lot of time for anything else. But nonetheless, I’m here today to show you the things I did watch and listen to within the month so let’s get to it.

Podcasts and Audiobooks

That’s right—I’m actually remembering to share things I listened to this month! I listened to three podcast episodes, firstly; Stories Behind the Story with Better Reading: Richard Osman. Better Reading is kind of like the Australian version of something like Book Riot, I suppose. They do interviews, reviews, talk about new releases and etc. On their podcast, they interviewed Richard Osman about his new book, The Thursday Murder Club. I really like Richard Osman and this was fascinating.

I also listened to two episodes from The Art History Babes; The Sublime and Hostile Architecture. Neither of these were things I really knew anything about so I really enjoyed the episodes. Consequently, they’re both available on the Art History Babes YouTube channel too.

As for audiobooks, I’m still working my way through Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse but more on that later.

TV

Most of this month was dedicated to watching Clarice and WandaVision, both of which I’m really enjoying so far. I know WandaVision is drawing to its close and I’m going to be really sad when it’s over because it’s kind of become my Friday night ritual. I’m not too sure on Clarice yet—I enjoy it but I’m not really sure where it’s heading.

Movies

This is a bit of an interesting month movie-wise—I watched three; Yentl, Pollyanna and The Secret Garden. I watched Yentl at the recommendation of my Internet sister and honestly it was pretty good. I loved the musical element though I really didn’t expect to. Both Pollyanna and The Secret Garden were part of a writing piece I was doing—I’d already seen the 1993 version of The Secret Garden, but this was my first time watching the 1960 version of Pollyanna (I’d seen the more recent TV movie as a kid). I loved Pollyanna, it made me cry a lot. As for The Secret Garden, this was a favourite of mine as a kid that now made me want to put my head through a wall. The disability rep is baaaaaaaaad, my friends. Maggie Smith is the only redeeming quality, isn’t she always though?

And that’s it for me this month! I’m hoping next month will be a little more exciting, but I always say that, don’t I? But until next time, have a lovely day!
