Authors I’ve Read Multiple Times This Year

Here we are today to talk about the authors I’ve read more than once so far this year. I usually do a post like this at least once a year and today is that day for 2021!

There are a couple of reasons I like doing these posts so much. For one, it’s a great way to see which authors really captured my attention when I look back at the end of the year to think about my favourite books of the year but also setting myself goals for the next year. Which new-to-me authors have the possibility of becoming favourites? Which authors did I keep coming back to? It’s a fun way to watch all of that.

Doing these mid-year posts is a good way of helping me decide what books I should try and pick up before the end of the year. In comparison to previous years, this year I don’t have that many authors on this list. While it’s great that I’m picking up lots of different authors, I know I have a lot of authors with multiple books waiting on my shelves to be read. So I know that is something I need to be focusing on for this second half of the year.

But now that huge spiel is over, let me actually share the authors and books I’ve read.

Six Books

Sabrina Jeffries

This is really no surprise. I read an entire series of Sabrina Jeffries in the first part of the year and I still have more to go. There’s only one author who might be able to knock Jeffries off the top spot, but we’ll see how that works out by the end of the year.

Three Books

Samantha Shannon

I’m really happy to have Samantha Shannon back on this list after quite a long break. The Bone Season is one of my favourite series, but I put off reading the third one until the fourth was announced which was quite a few years break. I decided to reread the first two and then read the third and I’ll be picking up the fourth this week!

Judith Rossell

Another entire series—I read the Stella Montgomery Intrigue series earlier this year, which is made up of three books. I absolutely adore this series and I highly recommend it to everyone out there.

Two Books

Stephanie Laurens

I am very, very slowly making my way through the Cynster series. I’m now up to book four, having read books two and three earlier this year. I’m definitely expecting to see Laurens higher up on this list by the end of the year as I’m hoping to make it to a certain point in this series before 2022.

Nghi Vo

Other than The Chosen and The Beautiful (one of my most anticipated reads of the year), I think I’ve read all of Nghi Vo’s published works at the moment which makes me really sad. I think she has a few short pieces published with magazines and things so I’ll definitely be hunting everything I possibly can down.

Leigh Bardugo

I’m sure Leigh Bardugo would be on a lot of people’s lists for this year. I read Lives of Saints at the very beginning of the year, and then decided to reread Shadow and Bone right before the Netflix show, as many people did. I do plan finishing my reread of the rest of the Grishaverse books so I can finally move onto Rule of Wolves.

Gaelen Foley

Another romance author, of course. I’ve also been making my way through Foley’s Knight Miscellancy series. I’m only three books into the series so far but I’m sure I’ll finish the rest of them off by the end of the year.

Mary Beard

And finally, the wonderful Mary Beard! I imagine I’ll eventually make my way through all of Mary Beard’s books but for now I have one more book on my shelves from her that I’ll hopefully try and get to before the end of the year.

And that’s it for now! I’ll do a post like this towards the end of the year once I’ve tallied up all the authors to see who I end reading the most of. But for now, I’ll see you tomorrow!
