Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is a Christmas wishlist. I honestly struggled to come up with books for this topic—as soon as I had to actually think about books I wanted it was like I couldn’t remember any books that had ever been published. So today I’ve got six to talk about, and let’s get into it.

Iron Heart by Nina Varela
Earlier this month I bought Crier’s War, the first book in this series, and decided to read it pretty much straight away. I ended up really, really enjoying it and now I really want to get to book two. This is just a duology which means I wouldn’t have to worry about waiting for another book.
The Mystwick School of Musicraft by Jessica Khoury
I love a good middle-grade and this one sounds absolutely adorable. We all know that magic schools are some of the best settings for books, right? And this one is magical music—doesn’t that just sound incredible?
Daughters of a Dead Empire by Carolyn Tara O’Neil
One of my favourite periods to read about is the Russian Revolution—I totally blame my love of Anastasia for that. But anyway, this is an alternate history/retelling following a girl named Anna on the run from the Bolsheviks and it just sounds right up my alley.

Cousins by Patricia Grace
This isn’t my usual sort of read—it’s literary fiction, but I’ve been really interested in reading books from New Zealand, particularly by Maori authors. I’ve heard amazing things about this one, so I’m very excited to have the chance to read this one soon.
Fence, vol. 2 by C.S Pacat
I read the first volume of Fence a few months back, but at the time we were in lockdown here and I was already ordering too many books. But I’d love to get this one, and the rest of the series, since they’re quick reads.
The Excalibur Curse by Kiersten White
The first book in this series, The Guinevere Deception, is one of my favourite books so I’ve been highly anticipating the third and final book, which is this one. I’m a little nervous because I’ve heard this is a bit of a disappointing finale but I still want to get to it.
What books are on your wishlist this year?
