My Summer TBR | TTT

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is Winter/Summer TBR, so I’ll be sharing ten books I’m hoping to read this Summer.

So what are my big reading plans for this season?

Wild Swans by Jung Chang

I started this one as part of Non-fiction November but wasn’t able to finish it by the end of the month. I’m over 300 pages in which is about halfway, so I would really like to finish it up, hopefully by the end of the year.

Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse

I am extremely bad at getting to the audiobooks and ebooks that I have on my phone/e-reader, so this TBR I am specifically picking out a couple of those starting with Black Sun. I have this as an audiobook from Libro.fm so it seems like a good place to start. I really have no idea what this one is about.

The Goal by Elle Kennedy

Confession: I never finished this series. I really enjoyed the first three books, and then just never read this one. I bought the eBook this year after putting it off for ages, so now I just have to actually read it.

The Empress of Salt and Fortune by Nghi Vo

This is another eBook I’ve had for a little while, but I’ve been hearing such good things about it lately that I thought I’d add it to this list. It’s only just over a 100 pages so chances are I’ll try and read it early January to help me get a good start on my reading challenge for the year.

Ottilie Colter and the Withering World by Rhiannon Williams

Another series ender that I never got around to. I bought this one back in May this year and then got distracted by so many other books that I didn’t read it. I will get to it this time, hopefully this month too!

Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo

This is one of the oldest books on my TBR—having been on my shelf since 2012. I don’t know if I’d manage to finish this, this season as I do want to listen to it as an audiobook, but I’m happy to carry this over to my Autumn TBR if need be. I just really want to have it done by the end of 2021.

The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood

Another one that has been on my TBR for a bit—though this one is from 2016. Atwood is one of my favourite authors, but I’ve still got quite a few of her books sitting unread on my shelves. This is one of the bigger ones, but I think it’s the one I want to read next.

Hercule Poirot’s Christmas by Agatha Christie

This is really my big project for the rest of 2020. I’ve been reading the whole Poirot series in order (which you totally don’t have to do) and I really want to make it to this one for Christmas. I’m up to book 14, and this is book 20 so I have some serious reading to do in the next few days.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

Another big one, but for some reason I feel like this is a good one to read around Christmas. Maybe because it starts at Christmas? Either way, I have already started this one though I’m not very far through. I’d love to finish it before the end of the year, but we’ll see.

Never Seduce a Scoundrel by Sabrina Jeffries

And since some of these are quite large, I think I deserve a fun little historical romance in the mix. Sabrina Jeffries is one of my favourite romance authors, so I hope that this will make some of those bigger books feel less intimidating.

And there’s my Summer TBR. What’s on your TBR for this season?

  1. I’ve seen The Empress of Salt and Fortune on quite a few lists today, and they’ve gotten me excited about it as well! A short but stellar book is a great way to start off the new year.

I always read Little Women at Christmas time; it seems so winter-y to me! 🙂

  2. I’m a huge Margaret Atwood fan. I think that my favourite is probably Alias Grace, but The Blind Assassin is great too – completely different to anything else she’s written. Have a great summer of reading!
