We’re back to the reviews today! I took some time to do some other posts, so these are still from early June but we’re slowly catching up. Today’s reviews are pretty short with two prequel novellas, so we’re just going to jump right in.
Pack Darling: Part One (Pack Darling #1) by Lola Rock

I’m still very, very new to omegaverse—I think this was only my second. That’s to say that there are still a few parts that are weird or confusing to me, but on a whole, I did really enjoy this. It’s definitely not for the faint-hearted—it’s pretty intense and by the end, I felt a bit emotionally exhausted. I have so much sympathy for Lilah who has been mistreated for so long. I just want to be able to wrap her up and let her have at least a few days rest, if nothing else. I honestly haven’t made my mind up about any of the men yet—I think I’ll have to wait for book two before I can pick favourites. Hopefully, I’ll have the time to do that before the end of July, especially since this is only a two-part series.

The Scepter (Mortal Fates #0.1) by J Bree

Honestly, I don’t have anything to say about this one right now. It seemed like a good setup, it was interesting enough but I’ll have to hold off until I get around to reading the #0.2 novella and the actual first book in the series.

That One Night (Jacksonville Rays #0.5) by Emily Rath

I don’t have too much to say about this one either. I have started the first book in the series, Pucking Around, and this novella was definitely a good setup to that. It’s pretty much vital to the beginning of the story, or at least it seems that way having read it before going into the novel. Would definitely recommend picking this up first.

Well Met (Well Met #1) by Jen DeLuca

This one was a reread for me—I honestly thought I’d read it years and years ago but Goodreads tells me it was only in 2021. It was fun to revisit—I do love the Ren faire aspect and I enjoy the characters a lot. The romance is sweet and I love the banter between them, especially in their Ren faire roles. I had planned to reread this in order to continue the series, but after finishing this a few weeks ago I’ve decided that I’m happy just to leave this series here. As much as I enjoyed this the second time around, I think the Ren faire aspect would quickly lose its appeal. Either way, I’m glad to have reread this.

Icebreaker (Maple Hills #1) by Hannah Grace

This was really the beginning of my most recent obsession with ice hockey romances. It took me a few weeks to read this one between other things, but I had a thoroughly good time with it. I absolutely loved Nate (and all of his teammates)—they are just absolutely fantastic and made the book for me. Stassie had her moments, but I enjoyed the romance between the two of them and her friendships with the other boys. Both this one and Iced Out (Veronica Eden) had some similar vibes and reminded me why I’d enjoy ice hockey romances when I first tried them a few years ago. I’m so incredibly excited to see where the series is going to go and I can’t wait for book two in October.

And that’s it for these ones. We’re almost caught up, so I’ll be back in a few days with the next round.
