#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook and you can learn more about it here or in the post announcing it. Today’s topic is non fiction which is something I love to talk about when I get the chance, so let’s jump straight in.

The Amazons by Adrienne Mayor
This is honestly one of the non fiction titles on my shelves that I’m most excited for, but it’s also been sitting there since 2021. It’s over 500 pages which is a little intimidating for a non fiction, but hopefully one day I feel brave enough to give it a chance.
Victoria by Julia Baird
This is also a huge book coming in at just under 700 pages. I honestly wasn’t sure I’d ever get through it until I found an audiobook version at the library a few weeks ago. I’m still not ready to tackle it but I’m glad to know that audio will be there when I am.
The White Album by Joan Didion
Didion’s The Year of Magical Thinking changed my life and the way I thought about my grief and since then, I’ve been a big fan of hers. I think I’ve read three so far and I’ve just been waiting for the right time to pick this one up. Hopefully that’ll be soon.
The Beauty and the Terror by Catherine Fletcher
I’ve actually read most of this book before but then it got put down for something else and I just forgot to pick it up again. It’s about the Renaissance which as an art history student is one of my favourite periods of history and I’d really liked what I’d read. I’m hoping I might be able to pick this up early next year.
No Modernism Without Lesbians by Diana Souhami
This is one I just bought earlier this year after having it on my list for a really long time. I love this sort of literary history genre, especially as it often ties in with art history and women’s history which you can probably tell by now is exactly my cup of tea. I think this’ll be one for next year as well.
And that’s my five for today. Have you read any of these? What non fiction books do you have on your TBR?
