My Libro.fm Audiobooks | November + January

It’s time for my next Libro.fm haul. These books are part of Libro’s ACL program which allows people with review platforms access to a selection of free audiobooks each month. I’d been holding off on posting this until February’s picks were released but I’ve been feeling picky lately and ended up with nothing. So instead, here are my picks from November and January.

November

The Darcy Myth by Rachel Feder

If you’ve seen any of these posts before, you probably know that I’m a big fan of Libro’s nonfiction ACL selection. This one was no different. I love Austen but I also love literary criticism and looking at classics in reference to modern society. I’m going to say something a little controversial here—Darcy is not my favourite Austen hero, but I think a critique of him will be really interesting. I have pretty high hopes for this one as a whole, so here’s hoping that I do end up enjoying it.

January

Unbound by Christy Healy

I picked this one up because I saw the words ‘Irish mythology and folklore’ and decided that it sounded exactly like something I wanted right now. I didn’t realise that this is also a Beauty and the Beast retelling which makes me a little more hesitant. I love mythology retellings but less so fairytale ones. I think Beauty and the Beast, in particular, has been done to death. I’ll give this a shot but I’m definitely less interested now that I realised this is B&B.

So I’m definitely not in the audiobook mood at the moment. I guess it makes sense considering I’m barely in the reading mood at all and audiobooks aren’t my first pick of format. I hope that I do end up enjoying these two.
