As we wrap up the third quarter of the year, it’s the perfect time to check in on my reading goals and see how I’m progressing. There’s been a couple of bumps this year, so let’s talk about them…
Reading Goal: 52 Books
I initially set this goal much higher, but I’ve been in a HUGE reading slump this year and knew I wouldn’t come close to the original number. I’m currently at 37 books, which is a little behind, but there’s still time to catch up! Honestly, with how few books I’ve been reading each month, I’m considering it a win to have gotten this far.
TBR Under 260
The plan was to finish 2024 with fewer books on my physical TBR than I started with—anything under 260 would count as a win. I was doing okay until my partner and I hit up a secondhand book sale and, well… we bought a lot. I’m too scared to count them all, but I’m probably closer to 300 now. Between now and early December, I’ll be going through my shelves and unhauling anything I’ve lost interest in.
Read 25 Sequels
I’m terrible at reading sequels, so I’ve been setting this goal for a few years now to push myself to continue the series I’ve loved. I originally set it at 60, but since I’m not aiming to read that many books this year, I dropped it to 25. So far, I’ve read 9, with a couple more I’ll probably finish this month.
Goals for Q4
Obviously, these goals will carry me through the last few months of the year, but I also have a few smaller, more specific goals I’m hoping to tackle before the year’s end. Here they are:
- Participate in Junior Eurovisionathon (more to come on this soon)
- Look through my unfinished books: either finish them, unhaul them or take the bookmarks out to start them fresh next year
- Reorganise my nonfiction so they all fit on one shelf and unhaul any I’m not interested in
How are you doing with your reading goals?
