Review:

I never really know how to review omergaverse reads. Like these are simultaneously some of the most fucked up books I read but also some of the sweetest.

The Scent of Us is no exception—there are some tough moments, some dark things in the pasts of the different characters, but some of the characters are just cinnamon rolls that I want to wrap them up in blankets and keep them safe. Eliana Lee does an amazing job at balancing those two things and I think she’s going to be a writer to watch, especially with her book, A Pack for Winter, having just been picked up by Penguin. Anyway, more on that later.

I love Juno, the female lead. She’s had a really rough deal of things and she’s vulnerable and guarded, but she just goes out and gets stuff done. She’s one of those characters that you want to be friends with—the type who’s support you through the rough times and be there to celebrate with you for the good. By the end of this book, I honestly just felt so proud of her for everything she’d achieved and I know she hasn’t even faced the worst of it yet. I’m firmly team Juno and if anyone tries to come from her, I’m ready to kick some ass along with her pack.

I don’t know that I have a favourite of her pack yet—I love all of them. I love the way they play off each other and the love and support they all have for each other no matter what. That found family aspect is the best part of omegaverse in my mind, and I love Eliana Lee’s take on it.

As I said, I think Eliana Lee is going to be an author to watch for myself and I’m so excited to see what she might bring out next.
