July Wrap Up | A Good Reading Month + A New Tattoo

Can you believe we’re more than halfway through the year? July was a very fast month for me, I spent most of it sick with the flu so the month just zoomed past. But the end of the month means it’s wrap-up time, and so let me talk you through everything I did in July.

Reading

This was one of my better reading months the year. I read 5 books with no DNFs with my lowest rating being three stars. I’ve already posted reviews of Fighting Spirit and The Scent of Us: Part One with my review of The Knight and the Moth coming your way in a few days. I’ll talk more about The Crime at Black Dudley another day, but my final read of the month, Ouroboros was a really interesting poetry collection that was in Swedish, Chinese and English.

TV & Movies

I’ve been watching a lot of TV this month while I’ve been recovering from the flu. I finally got back to watching Grey’s Anatomy and I finished off season 14 and most of season 15. I also started NCIS from the beginning—I’ve seen a bit of the later seasons but never from the start. I’m now halfway though season 2 and I’m enjoying it for the most part. Finally, The Summer I Turned Pretty returned for its final season and I watched the first three episodes that dropped.

Life Stuff

I spent all of July either with the flu or still trying to recover from it. I’m almost completely better, I just still have this lingering cough. It’s kind of been driving me up the wall as it’s still been impacting me at work. I’m hoping it settles down soon. Other than that, the only thing that really happened in July is that I got a new tattoo! This is my third and it’s a little beetle to represent my favourite movie, The Mummy. He’s been named Jonathan after the incompetent but hilarious character played by John Hannah. I love how the tattoo turned out, it’s perfect.

I took this photo the day of the tattoo, so he is looking a little red here

Plans for August

With the new semester having started on the 21st of July, most of August will be taken up with the first few weeks of classes. I’ve got some assignments due, some fieldwork days and everything else that comes with that. That being said, I’ve set myself a few goals outside of studying, so let’s talk about a few of them here.

  • Finish reading Sea of Roses by Opal Reyne
  • Film and upload a knitting WIP parade at the end of the month
  • Finish writing current chapter of my nonfiction work
  • Continue pre-writing/scheduling posts for the rest of the year

And that’s July in a nutshell. What did you get up to July? What are your goals for August?
