Things I Love Other Than Books

A little while ago now, I saw this post from Lydia Schoch about why she blogs about multiple topics. The last section in particular really got me thinking about the things that I enjoy that I don’t really talk about online. So today, I’m here to talk about those.

Art History

You might not know this, but I’m actually doing a degree in Art History right now. I have an Honours degree in Literature and then this year decided that I wanted to learn more about art. I’ve always loved art galleries and museums. I absolutely love looking at paintings, particularly portraits.

Cross-stitch

I’ve talked a little about this one lately as it’s a relatively new hobby. I find it really relaxing, and I love finding new patterns. I also really enjoy cross-stitching with my best friend, Angel—we were doing it through quarantine while we couldn’t hang out and it was really lovely.

Music

I listen to a lot of music during my day. I think it’s the best way I can get myself out of my head. I listen to a really odd mix of artists. My absolute favourite though is David Bowie—I love him with all of my heart. His music just makes me really happy.

Travel

I definitely caught the travel bug from my mum—she spent a lot of her early 20s travelling through Europe (in the 70s no less). I loved hearing all her stories as a kid, and I’ve since done a little travelling on my own. My favourite places are London, Copenhagen and Boston.

Languages

I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to learning new things. Languages are one of those things I really enjoy. I did French through all six years of high school, and now I know very little German, Spanish and Danish as well. I really want to get back to learning in 2020.

I’d love to hear what things other than books you enjoy doing!
