Books On My Winter TBR | TTT

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is Books on my Winter (or Summer) TBR. Again, I’m a southern hemisphere girl, so I’m here ready to get wrapped up in a blanket and a book.

Books That Have Been On My TBR For A While

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan

I actually started this one way back in December of 2018 and was struggling so much that I put it down. It is one that I want to give another try, so hopefully, that’ll happen in the next few months.

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

I know that I’ll be picking this one up this month because Angel kindly got an ebook copy from her library because mine didn’t have one. I do own a physical copy of this but it’s so heavy that I just haven’t managed to read it.

Orlando by Virginia Woolf

After reading Mrs Dalloway for the first time in 2015, I decided I was going to read everything Virginia Woolf had published. Can you guess how well that went? Yeah, I didn’t pick anything up. But I’m determined to make it through this one.

Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald

I’ve read quite a few of Fitzgerald’s book, but again it’s been a while. I have both this and The Beautiful and Damned still on my shelves where they’ve been since 2013. It’s time I get them read.

With The Fire On High by Elizabeth Acevedo

I got an ARC of this one last year and I still haven’t read it. I absolutely loved The Poet X, and I’ve already ordered her newest so I do really want to get around to these.

Books I’ve Bought This Year

The Inland Sea by Madeline Watts

I’m really, really excited for this one so I need to be picking this up soon before my hype completely dies down and it ends up sitting on my shelves for years.

Kingdom of Souls by Rena Barron

I’ve been waiting for the perfect time to read this, and I think Winter is that time. I love reading fantasy books when it’s cold outside—there’s something nice about getting snuggled up under a blanket and escaping into a fantasy world.

Top End Girl by Miranda Tapsell

I watched this incredible Wheeler Centre event with Miranda Tapsell and came away from it in complete awe of her. I ordered this the next day and I’ve been excited to pick it up, but got distracted by other things. I’ll be making it a priority over the next few weeks.

Jade City by Fonda Lee

Right back to what I said about fantasy being the perfect Winter reading. I bought this one pretty recently as well and I’ve just heard nothing but good things.

Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa

This one is actually a reread for me, but I’m hoping to finish off the rest of the trilogy at the same time. I’m notoriously bad at continuing series, so I might have to push myself a little on this one but I’m excited nonetheless.

What books are on your Summer/Winter TBR?

  1. Lucky! I’d kill to be curled up in a blanket with the fire roaring right now. Unfortunately, it’s super hot here in Arizona, USA, so I have to hang out in the air-conditioned house or the swimming pool. Ugh. Summer is rough!

The only book I’ve read off your list is WITH THE FIRE ON HIGH, which I really enjoyed. Acevedo’s writing is beautiful. I need to read more from her.

    Happy TTT!
