Buddy Read Picks With Angel | Part 2

We’ve got a very exciting post here today for you all! Angel and I will be sharing our next three buddy reads/discussion picks. We started doing these in 2020 and decided to continue them into this year. We’ve already discussed The Midnight Lie, Never Seduce A Scoundrel and The Extraordinaries so far this year, but let’s get into revealing our next three.

How are you feeling about the three we’ve got lined up, Angel?

Angel: I’m really excited for the next three months for sure. I feel like we have chosen a great few books and they are ones that I have either had on my TBR for some time, or some of my most anticipated books for 2021. I’ve enjoyed all the books that we have read so far, so I am feeling pretty positive about these three. How are you feeling about them?

Ely: I’m extremely excited for these three. I do have to say, I don’t think they are as different in terms of genre compared to our last three picks but I think that’ll make a really interesting discussion too. So without further ado…

Get A Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

E: Our read for April is Get A Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert. I think this is one that has been on both of our TBR’s for at least a few months now, right? I’m very excited to be getting to it, though a little nervous as we don’t have the best track record with contemporary romance in these discussions. How about you?

A: Oh this has been on my TBR some time now, nearly as long as it’s been out, but it took a while to get it into work, so that did push getting it back. That is true, but I have also heard nothing but good things about this series and that makes me really excited. It just sounds like it’s going to be a fantastic read. What are you most looking forward to about this one?

E: I’ve heard so many good things about this book and this series so here’s hoping it might be the one that breaks our bad luck with contemporary romance! I’ve heard amazing things about the disability rep in here as well so I’m pretty excited to see that.

A: That is what has me so excited to dig into this book and series as well. I love seeing disability represented in everything I read, but I love it even more in my romances.

Lore by Alexandra Bracken

E: I won’t lie…I think this is one of the ones I’m most excited for in our entire line-up for the year. You already know how excited I was for Lore, mostly because you were just about as excited. What are you expecting from this one?

A: I have no idea what to expect from this one, but I think it’s right up my alley. It’s about Greek Mythology, it sounds intriguing and it looks like it’s going to be fantastic work. I’ve heard that it’s a little slow and filled with what I would call ‘court intrigue,’ but I love that so much. And that makes me so excited. I also haven’t read an Alexandra Bracken book before and that makes me very excited. What are you most looking forward to?

E: It’s just blasphemous that you haven’t read a Bracken before. The Darkest Minds trilogy is one of my absolute favourites, so I have big hopes for this one. I too love Greek mythology so that part really interests me, but I’m also just ready for Bracken to make me fall in love with some characters, honestly.

A: I know, I know. I’m still not sure how I didn’t read the series. I just don’t think I was fully into dystopian. I didn’t read much of the genre, so I think that is why I never picked it up. But hey, I’m picking one of her books up now.

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston

E: Last but certainly not least! We’ve been planning this one for what like a year now? Ever since this was announced, and that is, of course, One Last Stop by Casey McQusition. Red, White and Royal Blue was really the book that started this whole thing, wasn’t it?

A: It really was. And now we’ve been doing this ever since that post. I can’t wait for One Last Stop. Like you said as soon as this was announced we knew we wanted to have a buddy read for it. I’m both so excited and nervous to pick this one up. I loved Red, White and Royal Blue so much and I want to love this one the same. What are you looking forward to about this one?

E: I’m also really nervous. I don’t know if I should be ready to have my heart torn out a bit or whether this’ll just be sweet. I think it’s really interesting that this has a kind of time-travel thing to it—that’s not something we really see that often, especially not in this context. How about you?

A: I think that is one thing I’m most excited about, especially since it sounds like everything else will be modern, so I can’t wait to see how it’s all explored. In saying all this I just can’t wait to start.

E: All in all, I think we have a great three reads ahead of us! Is there anything you wanted to add before we wrap-up today?

A: Just that I hope that you all enjoy the next few months of discussions!
