Why You Should Read The Faeries of Oz Series

Sorry that this post is going up a little today—I got a little confused and thought that I already had something scheduled for today and that this one would be going up tomorrow. Posting every day can be a little hard to keep track of sometimes.

But today I wanted to share with you a couple of reasons why I think you should read the Faeries of Oz series by Candace Robinson and Amber R. Duell. I picked up this series recently and loved it so much that I wanted to talk about it with you all, so without further ado let’s get into it.

It’s A Wizard of Oz Retelling

You’ve probably guessed from the series title that this is a Wizard of Oz retelling, but with fae. But in case you hadn’t made that connection, it’s a Wizard of Oz retelling but with fae!!! I’ve never really been interested in retellings or fae books but lately, I’ve been getting into both of those a little more and this series definitely helped with that. I’ve always been a big fan of the Wizard of Oz movie though—I probably watched it hundreds of times as a kid, and I love getting to revisit that world with a little bit of a twist. What I like most about this one is that it takes place after the original story, so while it is a retelling, it’s also sort of a continuation but with a much darker tone, some romance and of course, the fae. If you also love Wizard of Oz but want something a little more adult, this is perfect.

The Covers

I know we shouldn’t judge books by their covers, but just look at the one for Tin. Each of the books in the series has one these beautiful illustrated covers and they are as gorgeous in real life as they are on screen. Honestly, these are the kind of covers that you kinda just want to hang on your wall.

Jack

All of the characters in these books are wonderful, but Jack (from Ozma) is my personal favourite. He is just absolutely precious and I love the relationship he has with Ozma. In fact, I think Ozma is my favourite book so far, it’s filled with adventure, magic and a really sweet romance. I mean, all of the books are but there’s something about this one that just gets to me in particular. While the books are technically just companion novels, I’d definitely recommend reading them in order if for nothing else than building a little bit of tension for when Ozma and Jack finally get to reunite.

You’ll Have Time To Catch Up Before the Final Book

The fourth and final book, Tik-Tok, is out in a month exactly—November 10th. So you should have plenty of time to pick this up and marathon the series before the last one is released. The first three are all available on Kindle Unlimited, if that’s a service you use, and are so forth the download!

So that’s it for today. You can absolutely bet that I’ll be back next month to share my thoughts on Tik-Tok and to scream about the series as a whole again, but until then, I’ll see you tomorrow.

  1. May have to give the Oz books a go. Have you read the prequel ‘Lion’? Just wondering if I need to start with that one?
