My Favourite Book Settings | Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is books I loved the setting of. I decided today just to pick out four books to talk about, but let’s get into them.

Bone Gap by Laura Ruby

Bone Gap is basically the perfect book to read right now. It just has such autumnal vibes to it even though it’s technically set in the summer—it has corn mazes and like slightly weird/creepy vibes and it’s just perfect. While this is set in Illinois (a place dear to my heart), this one is a favourite more because of the atmosphere than the physical setting.

Burial Rites by Hannah Kent

I’ve been talking about Burial Rites a little lately, but I’ve just had a resurgence of my love for it with the news that Hannah Kent will be releasing a new book. This takes place in the early 1800s in Iceland and Hannah Kent just has this incredible way of writing that makes you feel like you’re right there with the characters. I’ve mentioned that I’m planning to reread this one this month, so I’ll probably be back to talk about this later too.

Four Horsemen series by Laura Thalassa

Another one that I talk about quite a lot is the Four Horsemen series. This is set in a dystopian future where, you might have guessed, the four horsemen have descended on Earth. Each of the books takes place in a different country, so the settings are interesting in that way as well as the whole dystopian element as well. I love absolutely everything about this series, from the settings, to the characters, to the romance—it’s all just incredible.

Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien

I mean, you’ve got to include Middle Earth to a list like this, don’t you? I’m one of those readers who absolutely loves the detail that Tolkien puts into these books—if he wants to talk about a single leaf on a tree for four pages, I’m more than happy to read it. It’s such a rich and interesting world and that’s obviously part of the reason why it’s such an enduring story.

That’s it for today. Remember to link your post below so I can check it out too!
