2022 is quickly approaching…maybe a little too quickly! But it does me that it’s time to start looking at all the amazing books that are coming out next year. So today, here are just a couple of the ones I’m personally anticipating!
The Marvellers by Dhonielle Clayton

It was while writing this post that I released I’d somehow missed the announcements of four new Dhonielle Clayton books. How did that happen? I honestly couldn’t tell you. Anyway, this is Dhonielle’s debut middle-grade and I’m honestly so excited for it. I love me a good middle-grade, and this is basically a magical school so like, give it to me.
The Killing Code by Ellie Marney
I can’t make a post about 2022 releases and not talk about Ellie Marney’s upcoming release. Ellie hasn’t released a whole lot of information about this one yet but it is set during WWII and features teen girl codebreakers working together to investigate a string of murders in Washington DC. I’m sure I’ll be talking about this one many, many times as we get closer to its release in September.
Belladonna by Adalyn Grace

This is being described as a ‘Gothic-infused, romantic YA fantasy’ and if that isn’t everything I want in a book then I don’t know what is. I’ve seen a lot of love for Adalyn Grace’s All the Stars and Teeth series but I haven’t picked that one up myself yet. But this one sounds right up my alley.
A Magic Steeped in Poison by Judy I. Lin
I swear there’s an influx of YA books somehow related to tea in 2022 and I’m honestly living for it. This is described as being inspired by Chinese mythology and history in which a young woman enters the first magical tea-brewing competition in order to help her dying sister. I mean, you had me at magical tea…
One for All by Lillie Lainoff

Along with The Killing Code, this is definitely one of my most anticipates books of 2022. This is a gender-bent retelling of The Three Musketeers with own voices chronic illness rep. I’m so happy to see that chronic illnesses are starting to show up more and more in YA so as soon as I heard about this one it went to the top of my list for next year.
Ophelia After All by Racquel Marie
I only just heard about this one last weekend but I’m already really excited about it. This is a queer contemporary YA about a teen girl discovering her sexuality and it just sounds really sweet and fun. I am 110% here for more sapphic romance so this will definitely be high up on my list for next year.
And that’s it for today. Let me know what books you’re already anticipating for 2022 and I’ll see you tomorrow!
I’m also on excited for One for All and Magic Steeped in Poison. I’m already anticipating the third book to Andrea Stewart’s Drowning Empire Trilogy.

Oooh, I’ve got the first book in that series. Should I be bumping it up my TBR?

I am biased so yes. π€£ It was one of my favorite reads last year and The Bone Shard Emperor will be coming out in November. It might even be better than the first one. Also, read it for Mephi. He is the cutest creature and completely steals the show. π
