Books I Was SO EXCITED to Get, But Still Haven’t Read | Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is Books I Was SO EXCITED to Get, But Still Haven’t Read. I have so, so many of these so picking only ten was kind of hard, but here are the ones I decided to go with.

The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth

This would be a reread for me, but I’d purchased myself a copy last year and intended to read it during Pride month but I just never got around to it. When I read this back in 2015, I’m pretty sure it was the first book I’d ever read with a lesbian main character and the first time I learnt about gay conversion therapy, so it’s probably unsurprising to say that this book has stuck with me all these years and I hope that I’ll be able to reread it this year.

Take A Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert

I absolutely loved Get A Life, Chloe Brown so I immediately ordered the other two books in the series. And well, surprise—I didn’t read them. As I say in basically every post these days, contemporary romance is my thing this year so I should definitely get around to reading this one.

The Chosen and the Beautiful by Nghi Vo

This was one of my most anticipated releases of last year—I literally talked about it in every post about new releases or books I was excited for and etc and then I just didn’t read it. It’s a pretty short book so I should just face my fears and read it.

Defy the Night by Brigid Kemmerer

I bought this book at the end of last year because I absolutely had to have it and now it’s still sitting on my shelves. I remember seeing quite a bit of hype about this one when it was released but I think that’s died down now and honestly, sometimes I forget I have this on my shelves.

Frostheart by Jamie Littler

The story is pretty much the same with this one. I had so many people telling me how fantastic this was that I caved and bought it. I feel like I’ve been saving this for a special occasion but I have no idea what that special occasion is.

The Wolf Den by Elodie Harper

I love a bit of Greek mythology. I mean, who doesn’t? But every time I see a new book that retells or examines women in Greek myths, I have to buy it. I’ve got a few still sitting on my shelf, but this is one I probably should’ve picked up by now.

Skin of the Sea by Natasha Bowen

I’m not a mermaid/siren fan, but I heard such good things about this one in the lead up to it being published that I just had to buy it. I’ve seen a few mixed reviews about it since but I fully intend on getting to this before the sequel is out in September.

She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan

This is another one that was incredibly hyped. I was going to say that I would hold off reading this until the sequel was out or almost out so I could read them back to back if I wanted, but there’s currently no release date (or year) for the sequel so I think I’m just going to read this one when I can.

Portrait of a Scotsman by Evie Dunmore

This is one of the many books I preordered last year and then didn’t actually read. I was holding out for this one and since it’s the third book in one of my favourite series I figured I’d read it straight away, but of curse, I did not.

The Mask Falling by Samantha Shannon

As you can see, I’m just bad with reading sequels in general. I’ll eventually get around to this, but probably only in time for the next book in the series to be released.

And that’s it for today. Havr you read any of these? Should I bump them up my TBR?

  1. She Who Became the Sun is one book that I feel super guilty that I haven’t read yet because of how excited I was for it. 🙈 I was also really looking forward to Defy the Night and yet… It’s also still unread, lol. I hope you enjoy all of these whenever you get to them!
