Books From Past TBRs That I Still Haven’t Read | Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is books from past seasonal TBRs that I still haven’t read. I was honestly surprised that this wasn’t worse, though some of these are pretty embarrassing, but let’s get straight into it.

Jade City by Fonda Lee | Winter 2020

I read something like 150 pages or something of this one and then put it down for some reason and never picked it up again. I think I’ve put it on a few TBRs for different readathons and stuff but just never gotten to it.

Eyes Turned Skyward by Rebecca Yarros | Autumn 2021

This one is definitely embarrassing because I know for a fact that I’ve put this on multiple TBRs, including one just about two months ago. I’ve read 13% of the eBook and have been told many times by my bestie that I need to read this so…

The Mask Falling by Samantha Shannon | Winter 2021

I am ridiculously nervous for this book. It’s the fourth in the Bone Season and the first three books all ruined me so there’s really no chance I’m going to make it out of this one alive.

Our Year of Maybe by Rachel Lynn Solomon | Spring 2021 + Summer 2021/2022

Ooops! This is my only double-up on the list so I definitely should’ve read it by now but I just haven’t. I’m not really reading YA contemporary these days unless it’s diverse in some way. I’m pretty sure this has a disability/chronic illness element to it, but not completely sure on that one.

Girls With Razor Hearts by Suzanne Young | Spring 2021

I’m bad at reading sequels, okay? I don’t really marathon series—usually, I just read the first one and then wait so long for the next that I forget everything and let it sit on my TBR forever. And that’s exactly what happened here.

These Feathered Flames by Alexandra Overy | Spring 2021

I’d been holding out this one for Eurovisionathon this year, but then when Russia was disqualified, this one got put on the backburner. I do still want to read it as it’s a sapphic fantasy and I’m 100% here for that.

Cool for the Summer by Dahlia Adler | Summer 2021/2022

I’d been hoping to pick this one up last month but I just didn’t get around to it. It’s also contemporary YA, though this one has bisexual rep and it’s honestly one of my most anticipated reads, even though I’ve been putting it off for a while now.

Crystal Crowned by Elise Kova | Summer 2021/2022

Okay, this one’s a doozy. This came out in 2016, I had an eARC lined up…I did not read it. Then I bought myself a physical copy, reread the first two books and then didn’t reread the next two so basically, I’ve still not finished this series even though this is the only one left.

I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys | Autumn 2022

This is probably the only one on the list that I’m not embarrassed by. I only got it in March and was hoping to read it for Eurovisionathon again but ended up reading a book set in Romania that had been on my TBR for longer, so I’m honestly okay with getting to it later.

Ariadne by Jennifer Saint | Autumn 2022

I definitely should’ve read this one by now. I’ve been absolutely desperate to, but it just keeps getting pushed back for other things. I’m really hoping to get to it in the next few weeks, maybe even the next few days?

And that’s it! Are any of these on your TBR? Have you read any of them?

  1. I’ve heard that I MUST BETRAY YOU is quite good.

I find that my desire to read particular books depends on a lot of timing issues. If I don’t read a book soon after I place it on my TBR it will likely get shoved to the side by something else. My TTT list

  2. I Must Betray You and Ariadne are also on my endless TBR but they’re more recent additions. I still have Girls with Sharp Sticks on my list even though I was ridiculously excited to read it when I first heard about it! 😂 Welp. I hope you enjoy all these books whenever you get to them!

  3. I MUST BETRAY YOU is one of the few from my recent seasonal TBR lists that I actually read! I love Sepetys’ books and this one was especially eye-opening and impactful for me. I hope you enjoy it and all these others when/if you get to them.

    Happy TTT!

  4. Read Jade City! 😀 It is so good. I did read The Bone Season years ago and meant to read on but then I never did even though I still have books 2 and 3 lol
