Did I Read My Summer 2024 TBR?

I am so ready to be done with summer. It’s been a hot year so far and I’m much more of a colder weather, cosied up inside kind of girl. But before I do get cosy, I need to share how I did on my Summer TBR.

What I Read

The Five by Hallie Rubenhold

Let’s start with this one because I ended up just unhauling it. I started it and then realised that there was a reason I put it down the first two times I tried reading it. I don’t know what it is about it, I just know it’s not for me.

The Unadoptables by Hana Tooke

This was actually the first thing I finished this year. I got really sick over Christmas so even though I started this on the 26th, I didn’t actually finish it until the 4th. I was buddy reading with my friend, Helen, and we both really enjoyed it. It was super cute!

Mrs McGinty’s Dead (Hercule Poirot #32) by Agatha Christie

And then I went straight into this. This was definitely not a favourite Poirot, it was just sort of middle of the road. It does mean that I’m one step closer to finishing the series.

Out On A Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young

I also read this in early January and loved it. I don’t usually like surprise pregnancy in romance books in fact, I’ve checked out of more than a few when it’s popped up before. This one was different because of the disability representation—there are discussions about motherhood and disability and genetic conditions which is something as a disabled woman with possibly genetic conditions I’ve thought about before. I could go on about this for ages, it was fantastic.

Only When It’s Us (Bergman Brothers #1) by Chloe Liese

I’m taking a little bit of a gamble on this one. As I’m writing this I’ve not finished reading it yet but I’m pretty sure I’ll get there before this post is up. I’m rereading this series in preparation for the last book which comes out next month. Clearly, I’m not doing great on that front considering I only picked this up this week.

What I Didn’t

Usually I do a spiel about the ones I didn’t get to, but honestly I’m on a time crunch to get this out and I don’t have much to say about any of these other than I haven’t really been reading. So here’s everything I didn’t even touch…

Some Shall Break (Some Shall Sleep #2) by Ellie Marney // ‘Twas the Night After Christmas (The Hellions of Halstead Hall #6) by Sabrina Jeffries // Chain of Iron (The Last Hours #2) by Cassandra Clare // Whose Body? (Lord Peter Wimsey #1) by Dorothy L. Sayers // Slayers: A Buffyverse Story by Christopher Golden and Amber Benson
