Book Cover Ballgowns I’d Wear for Halloween | Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is a Halloween freebie. I went back and forth on what I’d do for this one, but settled on sharing some of the ballgowns from book covers I’d totally wear if we celebrated Halloween.

Chain of Iron (The Last Hours #2) by Cassandra Clare

I can’t resist a pop of yellow/gold, and this dress is probably one of my favourites. We can’t see that much of it, so I think it has to do with the yellow against the blue and how her hair sweeps around—it’s just gorgeous.

The Winter King by C.L Wilson

This is one of the more ‘typical’ Halloween dresses on here in the way that it looks more like a costume than just a really pretty dress. This book really wasn’t for me, but who would turn down the chance to wear a gorgeous fantasy-inspired Medieval gown?

A Deception At Thornecrest (Amory Ames #7) by Ashley Weaver

On the other end of the scale, here’s just a very pretty dress. This series is set in the 1930s which is one of my favourite historical fashion periods, and like I said, I can’t resist a pop of yellow/gold.

Ne’er Duke Well by Alexandra Vasti

So I’ve been talking a lot about yellow, but what I really want from life is a dark green ballgown. (Who else is obsessed with Keira Knightley’s dress in Atonement?) This one isn’t the dress of my dreams, but I think it’d make a fun costume.

The Bad Beginning (A Series Of Unfortunate Events #1) by Lemony Snicket

Back to the last ‘typical costume’. This isn’t a ballgown either but I couldn’t resist putting Violet Baudelaire on here. She is one of my all-time favourite characters and I LOVE the idea of dressing up as her for Halloween, with a Klaus or Count Olaf on the side, of course.

  1. Ahah that’s a great twist for the Halloween Freebie, these are some awesome gowns. I would wear the Chains of Iron and Ne’er Duke Well ones! 🙂
