Hello, friends. It’s been a little while since I’ve posted here, but here I am today with a little update about the things I’ve been reading and watching.
Flame and Sparrow (Flame and Sparrow #1) by S.M Gaither
I picked this one up last night just kind of out of the blue. I purchased this (and a whole bunch of other books by S.M Gaither) at BABE at the start of the month and this one has just been calling to me. I think that partly has to do with the cover which I think is stunning, but it’s also a completed duology and it would be really nice to finish a series sometime soon. Of course, I’ll share my thoughts once I’m finished reading but I don’t really have any thoughts on the story itself right now, I’m only a few pages in and I’m hoping to read some more tonight.
School Spirits
I have been completely obsessed with this show. I watched all two seasons in the space of three days and it’s all I’ve been thinking about. It’s a Paramount+ original based on a graphic novel of the same name about a teenage girl who has become a ghost and is trying to work out what happened to her. The catch is that she’s stuck in her high school with a bunch of other ghosts from different years. The story is good, but it was really the romance between Maddie (the girl) and one of the other ghosts, Wally, that really grabbed me. It’s got those ‘he fell first (AND HARD)’ vibes and I’m just living for it. I’m lowkey upset that season three might not be out until next year.
Life Stuff
The next few weeks will definitely be busy for me. I’m going for a promotion a work which is exciting and a little nerve-wracking. I really, really love my job so getting this promotion would be amazing. It does mean that I don’t have a whole lot of time for other stuff right now. I have so many post drafts half-written and even more I haven’t even started but I don’t have the energy to finish them right now. I’m just going to keep chipping away at them when I can and eventually, they’ll get done.
Next Up
I haven’t decided what my next read is going to be yet, but I know that I’m thinking it’ll be some kind of sports romance. This is definitely inspired by School Spirits—I need something with a golden retriever athlete to fill the space in my heart now. If you’ve got any recommendations, I’d love to hear them.
As for shows, I think I’m kind of in that teen show mindset right now. I know the final The Summer I Turned Pretty season is out soon and I do really enjoy that for a fun, easy watch so I just need to find something to fill the time between now and then.
