August Wrap Up | So Much Reading!

Oh August, you flew by so quick.

Reading

I’m finally caught up with my reading goal for the year, and I’m actually a book ahead which is always nice. This is also my equal best reading month of the year alongside May.

I’ve not actually posted reviews for any of these yet, but there will hopefully be series reviews for Colette Rhodes’ State of Grace series and Evie Mitchell’s series with Bec McMaster and Lana Pecherczyk next month when I finish both series. I’ll also have a little review/wrap-up of the Aase Berg poetry collections I’ve read through July and August.

TV, Movies and Music

This month I continued watching The Summer I Turned Pretty and caught up with the episodes that were released this month. I also started season 4 of NCIS and I’ve been slowly chugging away at that. I also started two new-to-me shows this month—The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and Felicity, but I plan on talking about them more in the future.

I usually don’t include music into my wrap-ups, but I wanted to talk about the new Sabrina Carpenter album which dropped on the 29th. I love Sabrina, and I think her music is so fun. This isn’t my favourite album of hers, but I love the sort of 70s dance vibes. I don’t have words for how excited I am to hear the duet by Sabrina and Taylor on October 3rd.

Life Stuff

I mentioned in last month’s wrap-up that this month would be mostly about assignments, which is definitely turned out to be. I completed the two assignments that were due this month but I also spent some time working on my final assignments which aren’t due until October. There are both big research projects, so August turned out to really be a month of journal articles and book chapters.

It was also Percy’s birthday on the 28th, making him 9 now which is just kind of terrifying. I adopted him when he was still a kitten so it’s wild to think that I’ve had him for over 8 years now. He’s actually staring at me from across the room as I type this just watching me with his beady little eyes to see if I’m going to give him a second dinner (I’m not). He’s a troublemaker and sometimes he drives me up the wall, but he was my first cat and without him, I never would’ve adopted Fletch or Arthur and the three of them make my life so much better.

Plans for September

I’m starting a new job in September which I’m very excited about. It’s a promotion for me and I’ll have a team of my own to lead. I’m really looking forward to the whole thing. It does mean my plans for September are a little different than I’d expected, but there they are:

  • Finish the State of Grace series by Colette Rhodes + write my series review
  • Write beginning of October posts to cover me while I’m at RARE

Well, that was my August. How was yours?
