January Wrap Up | No Reading But Lots of TV!

Ah January, the month that feels like an entire year in itself.

It wasn’t really the relaxing month I’d hoped for, instead turning out to be quite a difficult time. But, we’re into February now and things can only go up from here…I hope!

Reading

I didn’t finish a single book in January. I was just not in the mindset for reading much this month, but I’m hoping to read a little more in February.

TV, Movies and Music

I did watch a lot of TV. I know for some people that’s probably not a good thing, but for me, making time to watch something means I’m actually letting myself rest which is not my strong suit. But here are the things I watched this month:

I rewatched Stranger Things season 1 and 2 in preparation for the last season. I’d planned to watch the whole thing this month but I ended up needing a break with something a bit lighter. I did enjoy coming back to it though.

I then switched to Ginny and Georgia and I watched the first season and a half before that got a little too serious for me too. I hadn’t expected the serious discussions of depression and self-harm in this one and while I was struggling with my mental health this month, this was not distracting me in the way I’d hoped.

Then I moved onto a bit of a romcom marathon. I watched No Hard Feelings, People We Meet On Vacation and, Finding You which were all okay. They took my mind off things but I don’t think I’d return to any of them again. Still on the romance, I tried Nobody Wants This and I watched the first half of the season. This didn’t grab me either, but I do plan on swinging back to it because I know Leighton Meester makes an appearance at some point and I love her.

Finally, I ended the month with Bridgerton, of course. I watched the whole first half in one sitting and it was honestly perfect. It took me out of my head and just let me enjoy it for a while. This book wasn’t my favourite in the series, but Benedict has grown on me during the show and I love Sophie so far. I’m eager for part two.

Life Stuff

January was a tougher month than I was anticipating. I thought things would slow down but instead things got busier. I really struggled with my mental and physical health through the whole month—I had some really dark days, and it didn’t help that I spent a lot of the month in serious pain.

It wasn’t all bad—I had a pretty good month creatively. I did a lot of knitting, including finishing a jumper I’d been working on for a few months. I did a lot of planning of things too, like future blog posts and videos. Everything is kind of slow going between everything else going on, but at least I’m looking forward to those things even if nothing else is going particularly well.

Plans for February

February is very much a maintenance and survival month for me. What I mean by that is that I’m working on making small progress with a few things rather than pushing for anything big. I’ve got a lot going on so if I survive the month and keep things moving (albeit slowly), I’m considering it a win.

  • Reread a designated section of my novel (~70 or so pages)
  • Make it another quarter of the way through my current knitting WIP

I hope January was a bit of a better month for some of you. Let me know what you got up to in the comments below!
