Diving Back Into Nostalgia

I don’t really know what to tell you about this post—it just kind of came to be. So with said, I’m just going to leave this here and we’ll move onto the actual post.

Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins

After months and months of avoiding reading this, I finally finished Sunrise on the Reaping last night. I was procrastinating reading it because I knew it was going to do me some emotional damage, and hey, I was right. I was doing so fine right up until the end when I just started sobbing. After I’d finished crying, I realised that I’d really, really enjoyed being back in a world that I knew so well. It felt like coming home—I mean a home filled with death of almost all the best characters, but still. I went to bed thinking about how excited I was for the movie and what I might read next, which led me to…

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

I bought myself the beautiful slipcover edition of this for my 30th birthday last year. Twilight was the series that got me back into reading in high school, and I was obsessed with it for a good year or two before moving onto other things. Every now and again I still go back and revisit the movies when I just need something weirdly comforting, but I’ve never come back to the books before. I woke up this morning and just knew that this was the book I wanted to read next so I’ve started it and I’m having a great time.

Forged by Malice by Elizabeth Helen

This isn’t really a nostalgic read. This series (this is book three) was published in the last few years, but something about it gives me those feelings. Maybe because it’s a Beauty and the Beast retelling but make it reverse harem and smutty? Whatever the reason, I’ve already picked this out as my book after Twilight to keep that fun nostalgic feeling going. These books are genuinely so much fun, though a little overdramatic and cliche in parts.

Well that’s it for today. I’m going to get back to Twilight
