The Get to Know Me Uncomfortably Well Tag

Hi, everyone! Welcome to Earl Grey Books, I’m Ely! I thought it would be fun to start off this new blog with the Get to Know Me Uncomfortably Well tag. I saw this on FictionTea’s blog—it is a post from 2016 but it seemed like fun. So without further ado, let’s get into it.

  1. What is your middle name?

Jayne—a classic one with a bit of a twist.

  1. Do you have any Nicknames?

My family are big into nicknames, most of which are too embarrassing to get into here. But two that I have always liked for some reason are ‘Pumpkin’—my dad has called me this since I was a kid because pumpkin has always been one of my favourite foods, and my Grandpa used to call me ‘fairy features’—I don’t know why, but thinking of it now that he’s passed always brings a smile to my face.

  1. What age are you?

I’m twenty-four, turning twenty-five this October.

  1. What is your zodiac sign?

Libra! I don’t know how many of the traits really fit me, but that’s what I am.

Oh absolutely not. I’m generally in such a state of panic that I don’t observe things around me. Maybe that’s my talent?

  1. Favourite song?

UNDER PRESSSSSSURE! Seriously, Under Pressure by David Bowie and Queen. If I was a demon, that’d be how you’d summon me.

  1. Are you a good singer?

No. I have zero talents.

  1. Do you like long or short hair?

I love long hair, but every time I say I’m going to grow mine out again, I end up cutting it to just at my shoulders.

Australian schools don’t really have clubs? I guess I joined a book club with my school library.

  1. Who was your first real crush?

  1. How many piercings do you have?

None. I had my ears pierced as a kid, but let them heal when I was about 12.

  1. Do you have a Tattoo?

I do! I got one in November—the lily represents my Mum, who’s maiden name was Lilly and it’s a lily of the valley because that was her month’s flower. It can also mean ‘return to happiness’ which is what I’ve been trying to do since her passing. I already have a whole bunch of other ideas but haven’t decided where to put them yet.

  1. Do you act like your age?

What does a 24 year-old act like? I don’t go out anywhere. People do often think I’m like 12 because of my baby face, so does that make me mature?

  1. What makes you angry?

Ableism. ABLEISM.

People not including disabilities when talking about diversity.

ABLEISM. *cough*

Historical romance in books 100%, but also I enjoy fantasy. I love a good crime TV show, or rom-com movie though.

I’m more of a potato chip kind of girl, honestly. But I can’t deny a good hot cinnamon doughnut.

  1. Favourite mythical creature?

Well. I like the idea of dragons, but I don’t necessarily enjoy reading about them? I do love How to Train Your Dragon! I also like them because they’re on the Welsh flag, but my love for Wales is a whole other discussion. I can tell you that I can’t get behind the whole unicorn trend.

  1. Colour of your bedspread?

Grey. I have a cat who loses a lot of fur, there’s no point trying to have something exciting.

  1. Colour of your room?

The walls of my whole apartment is white—I’m renting so I’m not allowed to change that. I do have a white and purple bookshelf in my room for a little bit of colour, as well as some photos and art prints on my wall.

Well I hope you’re all feeling like you know me a little too well now! I’ll see you all in a few days with my next post!
