Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is the most recent additions to your shelf/collection. So let’s talk about the books I bought at the end of 2021!
M Train by Patti Smith

This was the last book I had arrive in 2021. I’d ordered it right after finishing The Year of the Monkey by Patti Smith. I think this will be my fourth book of hers—I’ve been really enjoying them so far, and so I’m planning to pick this one up either at the end of January or the start of February.
Iron Heart by Nina Varela
I think it was the last TTT post I did in which I shared my Christmas wishlist, but I mentioned how this would be one of the first books I bought this year. Well, I ended up buying this during the Boxing Day sales at Dymocks instead. I’m about to start it so hopefully, I end up enjoying it as much as I did the first one.
The Queer Principles of Kit Webb by Cat Sebastian

I bought this one (and the next one) on the same day as Iron Heart, because who can resist a good sale? I’ve had my eye on this one, and Cat Sebastian in general, for a while now. I love a bit of queerness in historical romance and I have to be honest and admit that I was excited because I thought book two was an f/f romance (it isn’t), but I’m still excited to give this a go. But also, give us more historical lesbians!
Electric Idol by Katee Robert
Moving on to what is quite literally my most anticipated release of 2022. I honestly don’t have that much to say about this one right now. I’ll probably have some kind of review/fangirl moment about this in one of my next posts so I’ll hold off until then.
Call Us What We Carry by Amanda Gorman

It’s always nice to be able to talk about a book I’ve actually read so these posts aren’t just me talking about how excited I am for things that I probably won’t read for months. I started Call Us What We Carry pretty much as soon as I bought it and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Such a beautiful collection.
Pack of Blood and Lies by Olivia Wildenstein
Okay, back to one I haven’t read! This is the first book in a werewolf romance. Not usually my sort of thing, but I’ve kind of been getting into the whole paranormal romance thing in the last few months and I’ve honestly been loving it.
The Longing of Lone Wolves by Lana Pecherczyk

Another one I have read! I plan on talking about this series at length in a post soon, so I won’t go into this one too much. But safe to say, I absolutely adored it and I can’t wait to talk about it!
Dark Harmony by Laura Thalassa
Next up, this is the third and final book in The Bargainer series. I’ve only read book one, but I love Laura Thalassa with my whole heart so I had to make sure I had the rest of the series before I moved on.
Deal With The Elf King by Elise Kova

In my humble opinion, Elise Kova has some of the most beautiful covers for her books. That’s partly why I bought this one, but I’m also a big fan of her first series—the Air Awakens series. I might not get to this one for a little while, but I am super excited.
Vox Machina: Kith and Kin by Marieke Nijkamp
This is a Critical Role novel, which if you don’t know is basically a podcast in which a group of people play D&D. I’ve been getting into D&D this last year so when my best friend sent me a photo of this one I knew I had to get it. Again, I don’t really know when I’ll get to this one but it’s waiting for me when I do.
And that’s it for today’s post. What books are new to your shelves?
I liked The Year of the Monkey, too. I need to read Patty Smith’s earlier stuff first, though before moving forward. My TTT list

The Cat Sebastian looks great! And if you love some queer historical, and don’t mind some fantasy elements, have you read Natasha Pulley? Or Sarah Waters, she’s great!
These are the books I added to my collection most recently.

I’m more into historical romance rather than historical fiction but I’ll look into them!

I totally agree about Elise Kova’s covers! They’re always *so* stunning and I’m kinda surprised I haven’t read anything by her yet cos all her books are on Kindle Unlimited and I’m always tempted to borrow them every time I see them! 😂 Also, I can’t wait for Electric Idol—I love the Dark Olympus covers. Hope you enjoy all these books!

O highly recommend her books. I mean, I’ve only read the Air Awakens series but she writes amazing characters and has incredible world-building in those! Yesssss, another Katee Robert fan 💖 I haven’t gotten to Electric Idol yet but still so excited!

I’m not a poetry fan, but I have been really impressed with Gorman. Maybe not enough to read a whole book of poetry, though. Ha ha. I hope you enjoy all these.
Happy TTT!

Some great looking choices here! Somehow I’ve managed to not read any of Amanda Gorman’s work, so will make the effort to get round to it this year!
