Watching and Listening | January 2022

Here we are with my first watching and listening post for 2022. If you haven’t seen one of these before, this is the post in which I wrap up the TV, movies, podcasts, audiobooks etc that I’ve been consuming that month. So without further ado, let’s get into January.

Watching

I randomly decided that I really wanted to get into some long-running series/old shows this month, namely NCIS and Sex and the City. I’m honestly not very good at continuing or finishing series (in book or TV form), which means that so far I’ve only made it through nine episodes of Sex and the City, and eleven of NCIS. I’m mostly enjoying both of them. I also watched Hawkeye, which I really enjoyed—Hailee Steinfeld was absolutely incredible as Kate Bishop. I’ve also watched a lot of Taskmaster throughout the month—it’s just one of those shows that brings me a lot of joy.

As for movies, I’ve made the decision to do bi-monthly movie wrap-ups as part of my 100 movie challenge. Because the challenge is all about new-to-me movies, I will be sharing anything I rewatch in these posts but this month, I don’t have any to talk about.

Listening

It might be a new year, but I’m still terrible at listening to podcasts. I did, however, start listening to Poetry Unbound which is hosted by Pádraig Ó Tuama. Highly recommend this one if you enjoy poetry, or if you just need something to relax to—as you might have guessed, Pádraig Ó Tuama is Irish so his accent is lovely and calming. Within each episode, he recites a poem and then unpacks the themes, the language and the nuances all within about fifteen or so minutes. I personally love poetry and have for a while, but I think this would be a great introduction to people who want to love poetry but are a bit intimidated by it.

And there we are—that’s it for January. Going forward into 2022, these may alternate between being monthly and bi-monthly, depending on how much I actually have to talk about. But either way, let me know what you’ve been watching and listening to in January!
