Series I’m Close To Finishing

I’m one of those readers who is absolutely terrible at finishing series. I’m constantly starting them but it’s extremely rare that I ever continue. So today I thought I’d share all the series that I only have one book left in. I’ve split this into finished series, meaning series that are completely published, and ongoing series, meaning ones that still have books to be released but I still have one book to read before I’m caught up. So let’s get into it.

Finished Series

The Bareknuckle Bastards by Sarah MacLean

This is one I’m hoping to get to by the end of this month as I’ve been putting this off for months (you’re going to see this is a theme). I really want to move onto MacLean’s newest series—in fact, I have to move onto that series for a post later this month, and I want to finish this series before starting another. I know this’ll be a quick read if I just sit down and read it.

These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong

You’d think that finishing off a duology would be super simple, but as you’re about to see—apparently it’s not for me. I pre-ordered Our Violent Ends and I was so excited for it, but then I just didn’t get to it immediately and then it fell by the wayside. I have started this one though I’d only read the first 20 pages or so before I got caught up in something else.

The Four Horseman by Laura Thalassa

This is one of my favourite series of all-time and that’s why I’m so terrified to read this final book. I did read the first 200 or so pages when this first came out last year but then got overwhelmed by other things and put this down and I haven’t picked it up since. The goal is to also read this one in the next few weeks.

Carhart by Courtney Milan

This is another duology that I don’t have any excuse to have not finished yet. In saying that. I suppose I’ve been reading a lot of different historical romances lately and so I’ve not been keeping up with finishing all the different series I have started but that is definitely a goal for the second half of the year.

Criers War by Nina Valente

Here’s another duology that I totally could’ve finished by now but haven’t. I have really dropped off with reading YA in the last year or so but I still have a lot of them sitting on my shelves waiting to be read.

The Brown Sisters by Talia Hibbert

This is a new addition to this list because I only just read book two last week after it had been sitting on my shelves for a year. I feel like if any of these are going to actually get read, it’ll probably be this one because of the contemporary romance mood I’ve been in for basically this whole year.

Ongoing Series

Primas of Power by Alexis Daria

I read book one earlier this year and pretty much immediately ordered book two. I just haven’t made the time to swing back to this yet, but I will before the end of the year. Unfortunately, book three has no release date (or year) set which also kind of makes me want to hold off on reading book two.

Girl Meets Duke by Tessa Dare

I’ve read the first 50 pages or so of book three but I just wasn’t inspired to finish it. Book three very heavily features animals and I’m going to be honest—I kinda hate animals in books. I just get so nervous that the animals are going to get hurt and I’ll never recover from that. Similarly, book four in this series has no release date planned so far.

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

I reread the first two books in this series and the third one in preparation for the fourth one being released last year and then I didn’t read it. I love this series but I always feel like I have to mentally prepare myself for the way that Samantha Shannon will emotionally destroy me.

League of Extraordinary Women by Evie Dunmore

Like so many of these others, I preordered book three in the series for last year and then never read it. This is on the list of things I need to read this month for a post, so hopefully, you’ll see me talk about this later in the month.

The Last Hours by Cassandra Clare

I know, I know. Look, I loved Chain of Gold a lot and I love the characters and I’m just not emotionally ready for Chain of Iron. I do want to read this by the end of the year, but I will probably have to recap the end of Chain of Gold first.

And that’s it from me today! Do you have any of these on your TBR? What series do you need to finish off?

  1. The Bareknuckle Bastards series is a favorite, but the last book was SUCH a let down from the first two. I was disappointed, but I hope you’ll end up enjoying it!
