My Spring Reset: Books, Knitting, Blogging, and Beyond

Spring is just around the corner here in the Southern Hemisphere, and it feels like the perfect time to do some spring cleaning—both in the literal and metaphorical sense. I’ve realised I’m holding onto a lot of clutter, physically and mentally, so this season I’m focusing on cutting things down and creating a bit more breathing room.

I’ve broken my plans into a few main areas, and I’ll be sharing updates throughout spring as I (hopefully) make progress.

Books

This is probably the biggest category, with a few projects rolled into one:

  • Clearing a TBR shelf: I want to free up one entire bookshelf before October to make space for the books I’ll be bringing home from RARE Melbourne. The books don’t have to come from just one shelf, but by shuffling things around, I want to make sure I have an empty one waiting by the time the event rolls around.
  • Unhauled books: I currently have a whole shelf full of books I’ve unhauled but haven’t managed to pass on yet. My goal is to cut this in half before summer—whether that’s through donations, selling, or giving them to friends, I just want them gone.

Yarn & Knitting Projects

This year I’ve been working on stashbusting, with mixed results. For spring, my focus is less on the yarn itself and more on the projects already on my needles. Right now I have nine works in progress, and my goal is to touch all of them before summer—whether that means finishing something completely or just adding a few rows. Any progress counts.

Kindle & KU

It’s been a long time since I’ve done a proper clean-out of my Kindle Unlimited loans, and some of those books have been sitting there since 2023. Time to change that! I’ll be posting a full list soon so I can share what I plan to read or return.

On top of that, I want to tackle my Kindle library more generally. At the moment, it’s sitting at 204 unread titles (including KU). I’d like to sort through them, remove what I’m no longer interested in, and remind myself of the gems I already own.

Blog Posts & Videos

My drafts folder is overflowing with half-finished posts. My aim is to get all of my “flexible” posts (the ones without set deadlines, like reviews rather than wrap-ups) finished before the week of Black Friday, when work gets especially hectic. Realistically, that’s around 30 posts in two and a half months—daunting, but hopefully doable.

I’ve also got some longer video projects for both my book and knitting channels that I’d love to make progress on. Even if I don’t finish them, moving them forward will feel like a win.

House

Finally, there’s the general household clear-out. When my partner and I moved interstate in 2024, we brought way too much stuff with us, and it’s been a slow process of letting go ever since. This spring, I want to keep chipping away at that—downsizing where we can, and replacing essentials like a kettle and work shoes where needed.

Wrapping Up

It’s a lot, but even small steps in each of these areas will feel like progress. I’ll be sharing updates along the way, so here’s hoping by the time summer arrives things will feel lighter, clearer, and a little more manageable.

  1. Hey, babe. Hope you’re having a nice day/night. I’m curious about the knitting part. Kinda off the curve, but do you think it helps with stress? And how do you think I could possibly start on it? 🙇🏻‍♀️

    1. Knitting is a great way to destress! I think the best way to start is to find some cheap needles and yarn (maybe secondhand), then either take a class or find tutorials online and start with making a scarf. Scarves are the easiest—it’s where I started and where I always recommend others do. I also recommend Sheep & Stitch for online tutorials, I like theirs the best!
