Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is 2021 releases I meant to get to. As you can tell by the title, I decided to switch this up a little and go for 2021 purchases instead.
Happily Ever Afters by Elise Bryant

I truly had the best intentions to get to this one when I ordered it in January, but it ended up being a little delayed and by the time it did arrive, I was busy reading other things. It was always one of those “I’ll start it next week/next month/for that readathon” and I just never ended up getting to it.
The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna
This one is another one that I just kept looking at on my shelves and telling myself that I’d read it ‘soon’. I think I need to look up the definition for soon, you know?
The Wolf Den by Eloide Harper

I bought this one from my local bookstore with the idea that I was going to start it the moment I got home that day. Do you think I did it? Well, I mean obviously I didn’t otherwise it wouldn’t be on this list right?
Ariadne by Jennifer Saint
I thought I would group these two together because they’re both Greek mythology retelling. I was super, super excited about both of them and I’m honestly not sure why I didn’t pick up at least one of them before the year ended. I even put this one on multiple TBRs in the hope that would inspire me to pick it up, but no dice.
Take A Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert

I’m honestly kind of surprised by the ones I just didn’t read this year. I read Get A Life, Chloe Brown at the start of the year and loved it so why didn’t I pick this one up soon after it? Your guess is as good as mine.
Defy the Night by Brigid Kemmerer
I was so beyond excited to read this one. I’d heard amazing things about it and was so ready for it, and then I just didn’t read it. I didn’t even think about picking it up, and yes it was only released towards the end of the year but I still don’t know why I didn’t make time for it.
Gunk Baby by Jamie Marina Lau

This was one of my most anticipated releases for 2021. I even bought it the week it came out, but it’s sat on my shelves ever since. Jamie Marina Lau is an amazing young Australian author—this is only her second book, but her first one was super weird so I’m expecting more of that from this one.
Frostheart by Jamie Littler
I finally caved and ordered myself a copy of Frostheart towards the end of 2021 after hearing people talk about it for ages and ages. I wanted to read it in November during Believeathon but I just ran out of time. Hopefully, I’ll be able to pick it up soon.
The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni

I bought this one at the same time for the same reason. So many people here in Australia are huge fans of Lynette Noni that I figured it was probably about time that I gave her a chance. I’ve heard amazing things about this one so I’m very excited.
These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan
Last but not least, I bought These Hollow Vows for a project which I still haven’t managed to put together. But it’s time in 2022 to get around to doing all those little projects I told myself I would just so I can get all those books off my TBR finally!
That’s it from me today. Are any of these books on your TBR? Have you read any of them?
I’ve seen The Wolf Den described as good for fans of Circe, which I just read and loved, so might have to join you in having it on my TBR! Also love the cover design. Good luck getting to these books in 2022!

Oh I so have the same problem. I buy these gorgeous books and can’t wait to get reading and then it stays on the shelf for months. Or years…. Need to find a system to get that better sorted.
Hope you get to your books soon!

With those books that I want to read RIGHT NOW, I find that if I don’t, they just…slip away. Unbound was one that I couldn’t get that minute, and now we are a year later and I still haven’t gotten back to it.
Maybe I will nominate it for bookclub.
